The Proposal

Ok, this blog is a little backwards, but this is my first time doing this...and last! But since this is the anniversary of the day I figured that this was a good day to write this for those of you who haven't heard.

After one day of looking for houses we quickly knew that our house was the one for us. In a move that might seem hasty we made an offer the next day and accepted a counter offer that week. It was a house I could see us watching snow fall in on Sunday afternoons. We were set to close a couple of weeks later.

This was another adventure that seemed like a whirlwind since we had only began the loan process weeks earlier. And now, on June 4th, 2008 we were leaving work early, and a little dressed up to close. After what seemed like a bible of paper work, the two of us and our cramped hands were ready to celebrate.

Giddy, even though we weren't supposed to be in the house until the next day we kinda snuck in. I just wanted to sit in it, but Brian had another plan. I was asked to close my eyes for a couple of minutes and when I opened them there was a picnic of strawberries, champagne, and candles. And I was sent on a hunt around the room. I found a card that said "In this room, I promise to let you have the remote control, and I promise to snuggle under the blanket with you on cold days eating chili. Please head into the kitchen" and in the kitchen there was another card. Each room had a card with a promise and led to the next until one led into the bedroom.

That promise I shall keep to myself. ; )

That's when Brian pulled out the ring he'd been hiding and got down on one knee and things get a little fuzzy. He asked, and I was taken by surprise and said something dumb like "I do" instead of "yes" or "I will" but he got the point.

Now a year later, yes he does let me hold the remote control plenty. And we're about three months away from the big day and we hope you'll be there. Muah!

How We Met

He Said...

It all started back one August, on a warm sunny day. I was meeting up at the park with my volleyball group; we were getting ready to play when I noticed her. She was beautiful, long flowing blond hair, a beautiful body & beautiful green eyes; I was hypnotized by them from that point on. After seeing her that first time I started asking around as to who she was, who knew her and I never found out. All I hoped was that I’d get the chance to see her again. The next week, she was there again; I got excited because I was able to stand in the front row across the net from her, I started to get butterflies in my stomach and I didn’t even know her yet. As a few weeks passed, I tried to make small talk whenever I could. My chance came when we were talking about soccer and I mentioned how my team could always use women since we were always short, she agreed to come play - little did I know that decision to play would change my life forever. She played a few games with the team and after one game we decided to go out with my friend Bo, grab a few drinks and talk a bit. We went to Gov’s Park, had some drinks, food (best cheesesticks ever!!!!) and some really good conversation. After I dropped her off, Bo and I were talking and I knew at that point in time that she was someone very special, very down to earth, she was just what I was looking for and I knew that day, that I would end up marrying her. In October of that year we started hanging out, and then started dating, we have been together for over 2 years now and will be getting married in September.

I had been single for just over 5 years when I met Daria, I was at the point where I was ready to give up hope that I’d find someone. Then when I least expected it she popped into my life, and I thank my lucky stars every single day that she did. I have never been as happy as I have been with Daria, she is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I hope that I make her as happy as she makes me. I cannot wait until September 19, 2009, this will be one of the happiest and best days of my life!!! I can’t wait to start our lives together and look forward to spending the rest of my life with her.

She Said...

Brian caught my eye from the very beginning. But what I didn't expect was a whirlwind connection that would sweep me off my feet and make me feel more at peace with everything. I've always thought and said said, "do something you love, have fun, and you'll meet someone with the same interests" and that's exactly what happened here. I had been playing volleyball with the same group of friends for a year and one week Brian showed up . I avoided eye contact and talking to him because he made me a little nervous but I was looking for a soccer team, and his soccer team needed girls.

It was great watching Brian play soccer, even though the games were sometimes at 7am on Sundays - he has these great legs that always made it worth it. We were friends a couple of months, and actually got to know each other and I knew I was in too deep by first kiss. Since then I have been amazed with how lucky I got, as Brian has one of the biggest most genuine hearts that I've ever gotten to know. Since I've known him he has truly tried to make every day of my life sweeter and easier, and I know that whatever hardships life may throw at us - we'll be charmedly serendipitous together. And he loves dogs.
